Moses said to God, “When I go to the Israelites and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask, ‘What is His name?’ What am I to tell them?”

וַיֹּאמֶר מֹשֶׁה אֶל־הָאֱלֹהִים הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי בָא אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתִּי לָהֶם אֱלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵיכֶם שְׁלָחַנִי אֲלֵיכֶם וְאָמְרוּ־לִי מַה־שְּׁמוֹ מָה אֹמַר אֲלֵהֶם׃

God said to Moses:

וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֶל־מֹשֶׁה

I will be what I will be.

אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה

Then He said, “Tell the Israelites: ‘I will be’ has sent me to you.”

וַיֹּאמֶר כֹּה תֹאמַר לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶהְיֶה שְׁלָחַנִי אֲלֵיכֶם׃
